Purpose of the Position
The Asset Verification Officer role exists to support the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure in ensuring the accuracy, verification, and management of government assets across South Africa.
This position contributes to maintaining an up-to-date Immovable Asset Register (IAR) and ensuring that government properties are verified, recorded, and properly managed in line with Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Equivalent qualification
- A valid driver’s licence

- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and report-writing abilities
- Good computer literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to perform fieldwork and verification tasks
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the physical verification of DPWI assets
- Provide support to ASD and DD Physical Verification units
- Conduct desktop planning and confirm ownership of land parcels
- Perform GIS spatial data checks and database verification
- Validate property data on ERP and internal systems
- Approve transactions processed by regional offices
- Administer and record all verification activities for the Immovable Asset Register (IAR)
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability in asset management systems
- Conduct deeds searches and property verification
- Provide property information support to other internal units
- Carry out site inspections and condition assessments of assets
